We are so happy that you are considering adopting a pet from the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark. Our pets are excellent candidates for a new loving home.

Many  of our animals are with us because their owners could no longer care for them. Others were brought to us as strays and were never claimed by their owners. 

Before any of our pets are made available to you for adoption we follow a rigorous screening process to make sure the cat or dog is healthy and behaviorally sound. Their behavior is closely observed and their health is evaluated. We note how well it gets along with other animal as well as people and children to the best of our ability in the shelter environment.

At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark we want to make sure your family is a match for the pet you choose to adopt. In order to begin the adoption process, you must fill out an Adoption Application and submit it to us for consideration. Just click on the button to download the form.  

We will make every attempt to get back to you as quickly as possible; however, if you don't hear from us within a few days, please call the shelter to follow up. Please note: if you have other pets in the home we will need to call your vet before the application can be approved, so it is recommended that you notify your vet that we will be calling.
